How are Schools Preparing for the Upcoming School Year?
We are going through a global pandemic and it is showing no signs to go away anytime soon. India has also suffered a lot during this time. Almost everything came to a halt because of the deadly COVID-19 virus. But our lives must go on. So, the world is slowly returning to normal. And, India is no exception. Offices are reopening. Public transports are making a comeback in great numbers. Many schools in India have also started to conduct physical classes after conducting online classes for almost a year.
Now the question is how the schools in Delhi are preparing for the upcoming session. Read on to find out.
When is the new school year starting in Delhi?
Like other states, the new session for students in classes in Delhi 1-8 is going to begin on April 1. As we know, the COVID situation has already done enough damage to the learning of students. The schools had no choice but to conduct online classes from home to save their students from contracting the virus.
Presently, the government has only allowed the students of classes 9-12 to come to schools for traditional classes. The principal of a top public school in Rohini, Delhi recommends students attend offline classes for better learning. However, the government still has not cleared the first to eighth-graders for offline classes. So, the new academic session starting from April 1 will see the schools remain closed. All the classes will be held online.
Which pattern will the Delhi government schools follow during the new academic year?
Now the question is which pattern the schools in Delhi will follow during the year 2021-22. Well, the DoE or the Directorate of Education makes it very clear. The schools in Delhi will keep following the same pattern for online and offline spreadsheets like before. No significant changes have been made.
The Directorate of Education has notified all Delhi government schools to operate with the same online/offline learning model as before. As of now, all students up to class 8 have been promoted to the next class without conducting the finals.
Does the government have any plans for opening government schools?
As of now, schools in Delhi are not opening anytime soon. The government is taking into account multiple factors before deciding to resume offline classes for all.
According to a senior official, the government has no plans for students to come to schools physically at present. The government will make a decision about that only when the situation improves. As we mentioned earlier, the offline classes for grades 9-12 have already begun. So, the school authorities are preparing themselves for the upcoming board examinations.
The official also said that the government did not want to further delay the new school session. As the students have been promoted to the next class, it’s the ideal time to start the new school year.
The Delhi Parents Association has welcomed the Delhi government’s decision not to open schools for classes 1-8 right now. But it also said that the order should have covered students of grades 9-12 as well.
